Zinedine Zidane has told his players that they “must run, run, run and run” against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final.

“[Cristiano Ronaldo] is fine, 100 percent. He had some discomfort, but it wasn’t the same as what he felt in Manchester,” the Coach said before the match.

Zidane knew that Atletico is a unit, who would do everything as a team without discounting anyone. So, he enthused his team to be all focused and prepared for the final.

The game was difficult very difficult, as expected, Los Blancos were ready. Zidane went through the same feeling as a coach as he once did when he was a player in the CL final, even though the scenarios were vastly different. The intense existence makes him happy, too.

Reaching the final wasn’t easy, of course, but Real Madrid gave a phenomenal performance throughout, until they achieved the icing on the cake. He said that the sensation before the match was the same that they felt when they were in Manchester and more.

On what’s changed under him, he said that his team had worked hard to be in the final, with him having been in the same place before. He did acknowledge that Atletico, too, had done their best, and no-one can take away what his team had done or how hard they had worked to get to the final. Failure would only be down to attitude, if his team hadn’t given everything they had inside.

Unity, effort, companionship and quality in every game is what Real Madrid aims to achieve, Zidane said. “We also know how to suffer,” he added. That is why, his team is is prepared to do well.

After three months since the derby defeat, his team was better in every way.

Before the match, he was a little stressed he had to answer questions. But he enjoys the pressure he faces, even when it increases on the field. He used to face it as a player, too, but that has no bearing on experiencing it as a coach. Before the final in Lisbon, Carlo Ancelotti has told him about this, and now, after facing it, Zidane agrees with Ancelotti.

Real Madrid’s plan was to defend well, especially when they didn’t have the ball, and their weaponry was to attack well. But, as Zidane advised them, they would also have to “run, run, run and run.”

It was noteworthy enough that they reached the final. But, eventually, after a long and close game, Real finally won the match. And, that was definitely the best moment of the season for Zidane, and his team.
