“I want to catch Messi and Ronaldo” – Targets of French winger Griezmann
Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann wants to harden his status as one of La Liga’s top scorers and rejected bits of gossip he is troubled at the club.
“I don’t have the confused idea about the number, yet I need to score more than 25 goals this season, which was my aggregate last season,” said the France international forward. “I’m endeavoring to reach Messi and Cristiano’s level.”
Griezmann joined Atletico Madrid in the previous summer transfer window in a €30-million transfer fee from Real Sociedad and the forward is under contract with the Atletico Madrid outfit until June 2020.
Considering the club’s mid-year transfer business, that saw they get players including Jackson Martinez, Filipe Luis, Ferreira Carrasco, Stefan Savic and Luciano Vietto, Griezmann said: “The club has tried to make great signings.”
There’s no denying Griezmann is quick expecting the part of Atletico’s talisman, however. He sets the tone for his group with his spark forward plays, yet he shows others how it done off the ball as well, shutting down, putting in handles and driving slips from rivals.
“I read that personalities thought I would leave this mid-year yet I’m exceptionally glad here and if the club wants me to proceed with, I will be charmed to do as such,” he said. “The stadium is similar to the patio nursery of my home.”
“I feel happy. I feel the support and we usually go out prepared to give everything.”
Do you think Griezmann can ever reach Ronaldo’s level?
