Cristiano Ronaldo scored another hat-trick in Real Madrid Vs Shakhtar Donetsk group stage match of UEFA Champions League
Sergio Ramos-led Real Madrid came face to face with FC Shakhtar in the Champions League of 2015. Even before the match started, it was almost an impossibility to imagine that Shakhtar would be able to beat Real and make much of an impact upon the game.
The match got started among the celebratory mood of those present in the stadium, and a lot of predictions by them. As expected, Real took possession of the ball quite early in the game. As Varane dwelt on the ball and was caught by Taison, a half chance for the visitors was seen, but Navas collected the the low cross. Azevedo seemed eager to break forward for Shakhtar but Real managed to be the team on the front foot.
As Real assumed a potentially destructive role on the field, Carvajal drove down the right before being able to fire a cross into Bale. But it was saved by Pyatov. The minutes rolled as Rwl took over the opponents. Bale in particular was quite a vision, and so did Benzema, and right in the 30 min of the match, Benzema scored Real’s first goal of the match.
Shakhtar’s frustration started to become evident, and soon, Stepanenko got booked for his tug on Ronaldo, who curved a free kick towards the head of Ramos. But, due to his push on Marlos, the central defender got penalized. With less than 10 minutes till the end of the first half, Shakhtar had a short but good spell as they forced a couple of free kicks. But Real maintained their position near the box, while the pressure on Shakhtar became clear. The host team missed another chance as Ronaldo failed to net the ball despite a gaping opening. There was an addition of 2 extra min after which the first half came to an end. The score card read Real Madrid 1-0 Shakhtar.
As the 2nd half of the match started, Pepe replaced Varane for the host team, though the reason for the cause was unclear. Soon, Real threatened the guest team with the possibility of a second goal, but Benzema filed for feed Ronaldo, and the Ukrainian team got a free kick. The match went on at great pace. In the 50th min, Stepanenko was shown the red card for flying into Ramos. He was already on the booking, and his loss for the team meant that they would be reduced to 10. Even though they started the 2nd half at a good pace, their chances of recovery became slim.
Real started taking control since the red card. With Carvajal and Azevedo trying to possess the ball, Srna suddenly blocked a powerful strike from Ronaldo, thus leaving to the host team getting presented with a penalty shot. And Real took full advantage of it as Ronaldo scored Real’s second goal from the spot.
63 min into the game, and Real got gifted two more penalty shots, of which the team managed to make good use of the 2nd one, and Ronaldo netted the ball for Real, third ramekin the evening. The penalty calls indeed proved to be harsh for the guests. With less than 10 min till the end if the match, Ronaldo made his hat trick of goals, as he changed a slope range shot to Real’s 4th goal.
Soon, as the second 45 min came to a close, 3 extra min were added, after which the score board read Real Madrid 4-0 Shakhtar. The host team walked away with heads held high, having crushed FC Shakhtar.
