The Brazilian star’s injury time strike was his 10th of the season and ensured he became the first player since Kaka in 2006-07 to finish ahead of or on level terms with Ronaldo or Messi at the top of the charts.

Shakhtar Donetsk striker Luiz Adriano finished the campaign in fourth position having netted nine goals – all of which came during the tournament’s group stages.
Ronaldo and Messi are joint-top in the all-time Champions League goalscoring stakes with 77 goals apiece.

The duo overtook Real Madrid legend Raul’s previous record of 71 earlier this season.

Ronaldo holds the bragging rights for the most goals in a single Champions League season having netted an astonishing 17 times in last campaign’s competition.
