Early life: Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro has born on February 5, 1985, in Funchal,Portugal,  which is a small island near the western coast of the country. Ronaldo is the youngest among four children of his mother Maria Dolores dos Santos and father Jose Dinis Aveiro. He was named after Ronald Reagan, who was the favorite actor of his father. Ronaldo grew up in the working class neighborhood. He lived in a home which was a small tin roofed shack that overlooked the ocean. His early life was full of hardship. Roaldo’s father was a gardener,who often drank too much, and eventually died from kidney problems in year 2005. For keeping the children fed, and maintaining the  financial stability of the family, Ronaldo’s mother worked as a cook and cleaning person.

Into the soccer:It was through his dad’s profession at a boy’s club that Ronaldo was first came to the game of soccer. He was already recognized as a phenomenon then—a kid who ate, slept and drank the game. All he wanted to do as a boy of 10 years was to play football, his godfather Fernao Sousa said that. He also recalled for British reporters that Ronaldo loved the game so much he missed meals or escaped out of his bedroom window with a football when he was supposed to be doing his homework.

By his early ages,Ronaldo’s talent and skill had grown consistently. He signed in the contract of Sporting Portugal in 2001. That same year, at the age of 16, Ronaldo enchanted many people with a mesmerizing performance against Manchester United.Everyone was mesmerized by his footwork and deft skill. He made such an impression on the game that a number of Man United players requested their manager to try and sign the young player for their team. It wasn’t any long before the club paid Ronaldo’s team a price more than £12 million for his services – a record price for a player of his age.

Success with Manchester United: Ronaldo was not disappointed. He showed his class early on in the 2004 FA Cup final, scoring the team’s first three goals and helped them to win the trophy. In all, Ronaldo helped to steer Manchester United to three premier league titles.

But Ronaldo’s time in England was disfigured by the struggle of his mother with breast cancer at 2007 as well as his father’s death from illness caused by excessive alcohol drinking.The latter was especially hard for Ronaldo as the two had been close, and the young athlete had also pushed for his father to enter rehab clinic and address his drinking. His father, however, never accepted the proposal.

Departure for Real Madrid: As praised as Ronaldo was on the field for Manchester United,  but his commitment to the club came under constant question. Rumours swirled that he wanted to play somewhere else. So in 2009, when famous football club of Spain Real Madrid agreed to pay United a record $131 million for the chance to sign him on their contract.Nobody was all that surprised to see Ronaldo left Manchester United.

According to him that United is going to demand a lot for him. Ronaldo also told that he knows that he’s going to get much more pressure on him than at Manchester United.He said that it is a new challenge and this is going to help him to be the best footballer.

In addition to his World Player of the year award from FIFA, Ronaldo has also won the prestigious Ballon d’OR, the Golden Boot, and also the UEFA Club Forward of the Year, among other honors during the course of his career.
